IMPORT AN EXISTING CV

Import your CV from PDF or Word

Already have a CV? Bring over your details from a PDF, Word or text file. Check what Vitaevia has found and choose how your new CV will look.

Importing gives you a starting point. Check all the details and the layout yourself before using your CV. A photo may be missing or imported incorrectly.

  1. PDF, Word or text
  2. Review your details
  3. Your new CV

How it works

Sign in with Google or Microsoft and grant access to the corresponding cloud storage. Choose Create a new CV and select a template first. In the data step, choose Import an existing CV.

  1. Select your PDF, DOCX or TXT file.
  2. Consent to Google Gemini processing the content and select Recognise details.
  3. Check and correct the information in each tab, such as personal details, education and employment.
  4. Confirm that you have reviewed the details and select Create CV. A new data profile is created for your new CV.

Which files can you use?

Import supports PDF, Word (.docx) and text (.txt) files up to 10 MB. PDFs can contain up to 20 pages; Word and text files up to 60,000 characters.

Save an older .doc Word file as .docx in Word or another word processor first. Use a readable document without password protection.

Choose a new layout for your CV

The selected template’s fields determine which details can be imported. Import does not reproduce the original design exactly. Review the content and use your new template’s layout.

PDFs are assessed directly by Gemini so the document layout can help recognition. For Word and text files, the extracted text is used. Always check names, dates, job titles and language levels: recognition can make mistakes and does not automatically translate your details.

What happens to your information?

With your consent, Google Gemini processes the content, including any personal information, to recognise the details. Vitaevia processes the file temporarily. Only the details you have reviewed in existing template fields are saved to the new data profile when you select Create CV.

The original file, source text and unmatched text are not kept in the data profile. You can review unmatched text during the check and copy it into an appropriate field yourself. Keep your own original file as well.

For personal use, your CV files are stored in your connected Google Drive or OneDrive. Read the privacy policy for more about processing and your rights.

Check your CV before sending it

Adapt the text to the vacancy, check the design and open the exported CV before sending it. Reuse your data profile for other CV versions. If you have little experience, see our guide with education, project and skills examples.

Check the photo in your new CV too. If it is missing or the wrong image is selected, choose the right image or add a photo yourself. Only the photo you choose is saved with your details.
